In July 2021, WeAreSocial, in partnership with Hootsuite, released an update to their usual Digital Report.
From their Statshot of July 2021, the continuous growth in the number of people connected to the internet emerges, and connected to each other thanks to social platforms.
4.80 billion are internet users in the world, about 61% of the world population (+250 million compared to last year). 4.48 billion, on the other hand, active social users in the world (57% of the world population).
Remaining in the Social context, Facebook, Youtube and WhatsApp are the most used social platforms in the world, with 2.8, 2.2 and 2 BILLION active users respectively.
But how much time do we "waste" on social media? According to the report, the average user occupies 2 and a half hours of his day on social media. More than 3 hours a day, however, to watch TV (broadcast or streaming), with a slight increase from the latest reports: Covid-19 effect?
The report data also shows that 60% of internet users have visited online shopping platforms in the last month, while the number of users who buy or research products online at least weekly exceeds 50%.
